Creative Capital Collaboration: Practical Writing for Creative Professionals
A career as an artist comes with constant demands for texts: bio, statement, social media, blurbs for proposals, emails, press releases, and more. In the second session of the three-part Artist Lab series, Content Strategy for Artists: Promoting Yourself and Your Work, Robin Cembalest, a faculty member at the School of Visual Arts and popular Creative Capital coach, will teach skills to write about art, your projects, and yourself for all your professional needs. You’ll learn to develop nuanced language about your identity and how it connects to your work, to describe your art and position it in a context, to chronicle your process, and to express your meaning and intention. With examples from social media, artist bios, program handouts, press releases, and more, Robin provides outlines and insights to help creators in any field to communicate more effectively.
The Artist Lab is part of the new, free Creative Capital Curriculum, which offers exercises from working artists, educators, and art industry specialists to enhance artists’ professional development. Live captioning (CART services), ASL, and Spanish interpretation will be provided. The session will also be recorded and made available in the Curriculum, along with the first session in the series, Crafting Your Elevator Pitch and Sharing It On Social Media.
